Gugulethu Sophia Mbatha is better called Gugu Mbatha-Raw, an internationally renowned British stage and film actor that gained fame after she starred in the 'Doctor Who' (a British science-fiction TV show) series aired on the BBC channel. Her move from the city of her birth to Los Angeles when she was at the age of 19 and began to take on acting. To make ends meet, Handler began to work as an actor. Handler began performing stand-up as a full-time comedian when she turned 21. She realized she is gifted at the art of storytelling. Handler's professional career started as part of the all-female Oxygen Television cast of the show's hidden camera comedy Girls Behaving unreasonably. It aired between 2002 and 2005. Handler began appearing in other shows such as Weekends at D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler was also a an assistant host on The Tonight Show. Handler gained notoriety in 2006 when she hosted the show on E! the show was titled The Chelsea Show. The Chelsea Handler Show lasted for two seasons. Handler later performed in the US as part of the Comedy Central Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour. The stand-up shows she has performed have been broadcast by VH1 and Comedy Central's Premium Blend and HBO. In 2010, she announced that she would be hosting for the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. In doing so, she became the first female host to host the awards, following Roseanne.
